US football star goalkeeper, Tim Howard, broke the World Cup record for saves in a game: 16! He was astonishing, incredible, almost miraculous; yet the US lost to Belgium on July 1st. It was a tough blow after a record breaking performance. The US defense was pretty much non-existent in the second half of the game, but Howard came through over and over again. In extra time, the US World Cup hopes came to an end, losing 2×1. For Howard, however, there’s more to life than just soccer. Here’s what he had to say in an interview with Campus Crusade for Christ in ’06:
“The most important thing in my life is Christ. He’s more important to me than winning or losing or whether I’m playing or not. Everything else is just a bonus. All praise be to God.”
As if he wasn’t enough of a stud already. He boldly stands for his faith in Christ. This dude is for real. As twitter was blowing up with the hilarious #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave pictures, he humbly exits the World Cup talking about the only thing that matters- that is, the only one who can truly save: Jesus Christ.
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12
